Paint, draw, print, sculpt! In this weekly after-school enrichment class, students in grades K-5 experiment with fine arts materials, build their creativity, and practice social-emotional skills in a warm, inclusive setting.
fiber friends | wednesdays + Fridays, 8:00-9:10am
Work on creative fibers projects (hand-sewing, weaving, crocheting, knitting) before school! Previously called “Sewing Club,” we have updated the name of this group to reflect both the variety of materials used and the cozy community students enjoy while creating together.
Work on creative fibers projects (hand-sewing, weaving, crocheting, knitting) before school with Lakeridge Art Teacher Mrs. Artz! This club is affectionately referred to as "Fiber Friends" to reflect both the variety of materials used and the cozy community students enjoy while creating together. Sign up for a full session, or drop in as desired!
Students will come straight to the Art Classroom (outside door) in the morning. Various techniques and projects will be introduced, but students will typically have a choice about what they'd like to work on during each session. Many will choose to tackle ongoing projects from week to week. I'll offer hand-sewing and embroidery supplies (needles, thread, felt, patterns, stuffing, embellishments), knitting/crocheting supplies (different sizes and weights of hooks, needles, and yarn), and weaving options (yarn baskets, potholder looms). Students will be dismissed to their outside classroom doors at 9:10am.
No prior experience is needed, however registration is prioritized for students in Grades 3-5. Students in Grade 2 with related experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis; please send an email to anna@evergreenarts.co to inquire.
